James Lee Stomberg, 63

James Lee Stomberg, 63, of Kelliher, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at his residence.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kelliher with Rev. Luis Buitron officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kelliher and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Kelliher with military honors provided by the American Legion Post in Kelliher. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will be Vesty Poxleitner, Tony Long, Jack Stomberg, LeRoy Sutton, Ray Weidenborner, Orin Sessing, Danny Nelson, Bob Stomberg and Little Joe Stomberg.

Pallbearers will be T.J. Koisti, Scott Long, Jeff Stomberg, Peter Stomberg, Todd Poxleitner, Tim Poxleitner, Nick Madsen and Tony Madsen.

He was born on April 29, 1944, to Joseph, Sr. and Dorothy (Moreau) Stomberg in Crookston. He attended school at St. Phillip's School in Bemidji until the eighth grade, at Blackduck School, and then graduated from Kelliher High School in 1962. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 19, 1962, and was stationed in Germany. He received an honorable discharge on Oct. 28, 1965 with the rank of specialist. He married Karen Nelson on Oct. 12, 1963, in Kelliher. They had five children. After his discharge from the Army he worked in sales for Gamble Robinson. He married Jeanne Hinrichs on May 10, 1995, in Grand Junction, Colo.

In his retirement, he enjoyed managing the Kelliher Apartments. He was a member of the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. He volunteered for a number of organizations and for people in need. He enjoyed mowing lawns, stock car races and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Hinrichs of Bemidji; mother, Dorothy Stomberg of Kelliher; sons, Jerry Lee Stomberg of Grand Junction and Ryan (Bridget) Stomberg of Grand Junction; daughters, Stacey (Andrew) Madsen of Anoka, Minn., Nicole Stomberg of Grand Junction and Danielle Stomberg of Grand Junction; step-sons, Troy Hargreaves of Cass Lake and Rod Hargreaves of Alexandria; brothers, Joe Stomberg of Frankfurt, Ky., John (Patty) Stomberg of Beaverton, Ore., and Mike Stomberg of Colorado Springs; sisters, Karen (Vesty) Poxleitner of Kelliher, Nancy Koisti of Kelliher, and Mary Beth (Tony)Long of Kelliher; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family, including his Uncle Jack.

He was preceded in death by his father.
