Bjerknes to plead guilty to state and federal charges

Sonja E. Keiski, 73

Sonja E. Keiski, 73, formerly of Bemidji, died on Sunday, Nov 26, 2006, at home surrounded by her family.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Northland Funeral Home of Cloquet. Burial will be in Fine Lakes Cemetery at a later date.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1933, to John A. and Mary Ellen (Pajuoja) Laine, in Sebeka, Minn. She attended school in Cromwell, Minn., and married Arnold Keiski on April 28, 1951. She began playing accordion at age 5 and became an accomplished musician. She and her husband were well known on the Iron Range and the Cromwell and Duluth areas for "Sonja's Trio," playing music for dances, weddings and on television on the Scandinavian Hour on WDSM-TV.

They lived on the Iron Range for eight years and moved to the Prairie Lake area where they raised their family.

She was a home health care provider caring for several neighbors. She was a member of the Meadowlands Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was baptized in 1961. She moved to Bemidji to be with her daughter and later they moved to LaCrescent, Minn.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Rick) Houck of Wright, Minn., Joni (Steven) Rauvola of LaCrescent and Suzanne (Wayne) Jobe of Cromwell, Minn.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Armas (Shirley) Laine; sister, Shirley (Duane) Johnson; and many nephews and nieces and special friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson.
