Robert C. Remington, 86, of Coleraine, Minn., died on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at his home in Grand Rapids.
His daughter resides in Bemidji.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Bethel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Bovey. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1920, to James and Mabel (Harris) Remington, in Coleraine. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Dorothy Pearson on Jan. 1, 1945. He was a blacksmith for the Oliver Mining Company and a Plant Patrolman for U.S. Steel for 40 years.
He was a member and chief of the Coleraine Fire Department. He loved woodworking, painting, camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; son, Ron Remington of Annandale, Minn.; daughter, Marcia (Wilson) Naegeli of Bemidji; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, Jim and Fred; and sister, Grace.
