Fern Neumann, 93
Fern Neumann, 93, of Bemidji, died on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the St. Philip's Catholic Church in Bemidji with Rev. Todd Arends officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Bemidji. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Eileen Olmscheid, Paul Neumann, Peggy Neumann, Joe Neumann, JoAnn Anderson and Pat Neumann.
She was born on May 24, 1913, to Dennis and Myrtle (Hubbell) Considine, in Bemidji. She attended Central Elementary School in Bemidji and Bemidji High School. She was the organist for the young people's choir of St. Philip's parish in her early teens, traveling with Fr. Joseph Frauling on Sundays to the area mission churches to celebrate Mass.
Her high school years were cut short when she contracted tuberculosis about the age of 17. She spent two and a half years at the sanatorium at Lake Julia. She married Joseph Paul Neumann on June 3, 1936.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Neumann of Rosemount, Minn., Patricia Neumann of Tenstrike and Eileen Olmscheid of Sartell, Minn.; sons, Paul (LuAnne) of Fairbanks, Alaska and Joseph of Bemidji; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary of Mesa, Ariz. and Frances of Cloquet, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and sister, Irene Considine.
