Hockey Day is coming to Bemidji; 13th annual event set for winter 2019

Dave Matthews Band trumpeter to perform at BSU, Sanford Center

BEMIDJI — The Carl O. Thompson Memorial Concert at Bemidji State will feature a guest solo by Dave Matthews Band trumpeter Rashawn Ross at 3 p.m. Sept. 29 in the Thompson Recital Hall in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.

The concert will also feature a performance by BSU’s major performing ensembles and student performances by this year’s winners of the namesake scholarship.

The Bemidji Choir and Chamber Singers will also perform.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and students are free.

Ross will also conduct a Jazz Jam at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 in the George W. Neilson Convention Center at the Sanford Center.

Ross will perform with a backup band of local musicians and anyone is encouraged to bring an instrument for an open jam session.

The event runs until 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
