Driver accused of ramming another car in Woodbury

WOODBURY — Authorities said domestic rage led a South St. Paul woman to crash a vehicle loaded with children into an SUV occupied by her boyfriend and another woman on a Woodbury street.

Emma Fernandez-Fernandez, 40, was charged with one count apiece of gross-misdemeanor child neglect and child endangerment, as well as one count of fifth-degree assault.

A man explained that two women involved in the Aug. 17 incident were both mothers to his children, according to a criminal complaint. The man said he and one woman and a child were driving in a Nissan Titan belonging to Fernandez-Fernandez, who became enraged after spotting them in her vehicle. Fernandez-Fernandez, who was driving with her two children, a 3-year and an 11-month-old, began following the Nissan in her Chevrolet Avalanche and crashed the Avalanche into the Titan intentionally, the complaint states.

After the crash, Fernandez-Fernandez got out of the Avalanche, went to the Nissan, pulled the woman out of the vehicle and threw her to the ground and punched her, according to the complaint.

Fernandez-Fernandez makes her first court appearance on Oct. 21.
