Saum Fun Day set for Sunday

SAUM-- A Saum Fun Day is planned for 4 p.m. Sunday at the historic Saum School.

A pancake and waffle supper will include sausage patties, juice, fruit and a beverage.

Later in the evening "The Country Gents Plus One" will provide music. A freewill donation will be accepted.

Highway 1 detour removed

BEMIDJI -- The detour on Minnesota Highway 1 east of Redby has been removed. The road was closed June 3 so construction crews could replace the bridge over the Blackduck River located 10 miles east of Redby.

Construction on the Mud River Bridge, a half-mile east of Redby, will continue. Motorists will experience minor delays until construction of the new bridge is completed in Oct.

DNR to discuss northern pike fishing regulations

PARK RAPIDS -- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting to discuss existing northern pike fishing regulations 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 in the community meeting room at Northwoods Bank, 311 Park Ave. S in Park Rapids.

Updated information collected since the regulations were implemented in 2003 will be provided regarding several lakes in Hubbard and Wadena counties.

Fall Festival planned in Shevlin

SHEVLIN-- A Fall Festival will be held Sept. 7 at the Black Lantern Resort, 26844 320th St. in Shevlin.

Main events will include camping, shopping, food and drink, music and games. Cost is $5 per person and free for children younger than 5 and senior citizens older than 65.
