Bi-County Community Action Programs Inc. in Bemidji has received the Northwest Region's Homeownership Advisors Network Service Award.

Bi-CAP Executive Director Deb Allison said the award was earned primarily to the mortgage foreclosure counseling services provided by housing counselor Elizabeth Misco, and former counselor Teri Collyard, under the leadership and direction of current Supportive Housing Director Hyacinth Stiffler and former Director Barb Moran.

Bi-CAP, a nonprofit serving homeowners in Beltrami and Cass counties, helps low-income people become self-sufficient. Its vision is to eliminate poverty in the two counties.

The agency is a long-standing and active member of the Homeownership Advisors Network, which said in the awards presentation that Bi-CAP addressed the increase in demand for foreclosure counseling by quickly increasing its capacity and implementing creative outreach strategies.
