Lundorff and Voltz earn awards

The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize "Someone Special Volunteers" who have made significant contributions to the community.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area has nominated Bonnie Lundorff and Leif Voltz as special volunteers.

Lundorff has served on the Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area (BGCBA) Board of Directors and Special Events Committee since 2007. Lundorff brings her creativity, enthusiasm and energy to their large scale events like the Golf Benefit and Gala. She has a true heart and compassion for the club youth and has engaged her friends and families through the scholarship program and projects like "Tub of Love" - an anonymous Christmas giving program. In addition to owning her own business and often looking after her grandchildren, she always makes time to assist the staff and board through the development of new ideas, bringing new perspectives and entrepreneurial thinking. She is a true Club cheerleader. Lundorff is also active at New Salem Lutheran Church, quilting guilds and in other parts of the community!

Voltz started volunteering at BGCBA more than two years ago while attending college. He proved to be someone unique, not only volunteering for that semester, but continuing to volunteer afterwards and has proven to be a faithful and wonderful addition to the club. Voltz brings with him a kind, nurturing spirit that the youth identify with; he is flexible to the needs of kids and the Club, and has become a role-model for some of the youth. Whether it is doing an art project, going ice skating, helping at a lock-in or simply playing a board game, Voltz is Someone Special.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area services youth 6-18 through interactive after school programs and summer programs focused on character and leadership building, education and career exploration, the arts, technology, health and lifestyles as well as recreation and sports. BGCBA serves as a community center for many other nonprofit events and engages more than 100 volunteers yearly.
