Northwest Mechanical also known as Bobcat of Bemidji opened its doors in 1960. It was a partnership of 2 brothers Ben and Bill Nielsen. They were a Massey Ferguson dealer and a  general mechanical service shop repairing farm and industrial equipment. In 1984 they became a Bobcat dealer selling and repairing skid-steer loaders. Since then the Bobcat line has grown to include track loaders, mini excavators, versa handlers, utility vehicles, and compact tractors.
