Bemidij Show Choirs bring home honors
The Bemidji Show Choirs, La Voce Ballo and Vocalmotive, had a banner weekend at the Waconia Star Power Competition, bringing home eight trophies. La Voce Ballo won first place in its section and fourth place overall. Vocalmotive won Grand Champion, Best Male Vocal, Best Band, Best Vocal Ensemble, Best Choreography and Best Tech Crew. Pictured are captains of the show choirs. Seated are La Voce Ballo captains, Julia Armstrong, Anna Muller, Leanne Oakes and Amanda Pearlson. In back are Vocalmobive captains Zoey Schlemper, Katie Kovacovich, Jack Boyer and Allie Verchota.

Pioneer Previews: Bemidji Symphony presents ‘American Kids’
“American Kids” with the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra will begin at 3 p.m. today in the Bemidji High School auditorium. Guest artist, cellist Nicholas Hardie will be performing Robert Schumann’s “Cello Concerto in A minor.” A group of area string students will join the BSO on stage for a performance of Gustav Holst’s “St. Paul Suite.” The program will conclude with “Academic Festival Overture” by Johannes Brahms, all pieces under the direction of Beverly Everett. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for college students with a valid ID. Students grades K- 12 are free.
