Evelyn Maxine Gladhill, 85, of Bemidji, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Neilson Place, Bemidji.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at Peace Lutheran Church, 20 Northdale Blvd., Coon Rapids, Minn. with the Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. Arrangements are with Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bemidji.
She was born Feb. 6, 1925, to Ole and Ella (Peterson) Lockrem in Luverne, Minn. She grew up in Adrian, Minn., on the family farm and graduated from Adrian High School. She attended nursing school in Pipestone, Minn. On June 28, 1947, she married Lowell Gladhill in Luverne. She worked as a nursing assistant at Windom Hospital for several years. They moved to Bemidji in November 1968 where she worked for Bemidji State University, retiring in 1984. She loved bird watching, knitting, spending time with her grandchildren and keeping up on current events. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Bemidji.
She is survived by her son, Jerald (Diane) Gladhill of Coon Rapids, Minn.; daughter, Judith Gladhill of Bemidji; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Christian of Edina, Minn., and Lavonne Hatting of Rochester, Minn.; and brother, Henry (Alice) Hanson of Adrian.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Barbara Wyman; and sister, Elaine Harkoff.
