Roger Homister, 45, of Park Rapids, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Innovis Health Center in Fargo, N.D.
A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Cease Funeral Home in Blackduck with the Rev. Ray Klug officiating. Burial of cre-mated remainst will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck.
He was born Dec. 14, 1964, to Shirley and Louis Homister in Bemidji. He moved with his family to Preston, Kan., after his father died. He attended and graduated from the Wel-lington High School in Welling-ton, Kan. After high school graduation, he continued to reside in the Wellington area. He was employed at Future’s Unlimited, Inc., Wal-Mart, and McDonald’s unloading trucks. He moved from Kansas to Park Rapids in May 2002. He lived at the River Heights Apartments and Woodland Court Apart-ments. He began attending the Hubbard County DAC and working at its Recycling Center in January 2003. He assisted on the recycling trucks with pick-up and delivery of recyclable materials, baled cardboard, worked on the recycling sorting line and with general cleanup of the facility. He briefly worked at Lamb Weston RDO in Park Rapids; however, he most enjoyed working at the Recy-cling Center and returned to working there. He also partici-pated in the Semi-Independent Living Skills Program with Heartland Homes, Inc. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. He also had a love for clocks and collected a great variety of them. He also looked forward to the annual trip to the State Fair with Heartland Homes each year. He liked Dr. Pepper and Subway sandwiches.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Homister of Brainerd; sisters, Esther Homister of Blackduck, Bonnie Smith of Florida, Nancy Homister-Brandt and June Schambron both of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis W. Homister June 8, 1978; brother, Louis Lloyd Homister; and special friend, Mistie Rayl of Kansas.
