Helena Iverson, 94, of Bagley, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Cornerstone Nursing Home in Bagley.

Helena Iverson, 94, of Bagley, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Cornerstone Nursing Home in Bagley.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Ebro Corner with the Rev. Shawn Stafford officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, March 14, at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There also will be a viewal for one hour prior to Monday’s service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Helena Evangeline Johnson was born Feb. 12, 1916, to Edwin and Mary (Klingstrar) Johnson in the Village of McIntosh, Minn. She grew up and attended rural school in the McIntosh area.

She married Conrad Iverson on May 6, 1932. They lived on a farm west of Bagley in Clearwater County. Conrad died in the spring of 1973. She enjoyed working out of her home for Lady Slipper Designs of Bemidji for several years. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and adopted grandchildren. She later moved from the family farm to Park View Apartments in Bagley prior to moving to Cornerstone Nursing Home in November 2004.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, reading and was an excellent bread maker. She also shared her time as a volunteer at the local nursing home. She was dedicated member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in many church functions, including the ladies aide and as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by two children, Cora Choitz and Geraldine Mackreth; her parents; brother, Raymond; sister, Muriel; stepbrother, Henry; and stepsister, Grace.

She is survived by 11 children, Rosemary (Roger) Hill of Floodwood, Minn., Emily (Larry) Dostal of Chisholm, Minn., Marlene Norby of Pierz, Minn., Jeanette (Warren) Sundseth of Webster, Wis., Eugene (Louella) Iverson of Bagley, Judith (Wally) Meierhofer of Pierz, LeRoy (Susan) Iverson of Bagley, Vernon (Denise) Iverson of Bagley, Randy (Joyce) Iverson of Oklahoma City, Jeffrey Iverson of Dassel, Minn., and David (Elizabeth) Iverson of Bagley; 34 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Glen Johnson of Naytahwaush; sister, Genevieve of Park Rapids; and numerous other relatives.
