Douglas Andrew Stoskopf, 69, of Blackduck, died surrounded by his family, Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Neilson Place in Bemidji.
Douglas Andrew Stoskopf, 69, of Blackduck, died surrounded by his family, Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Neilson Place in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, March 12, at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born April 29, 1940, to Charles and Myrtle (Lundgren) Stoskopf in Warroad, Minn. He was raised and educated in Warroad. He moved to Oregon and began his career as a logger. He returned to Warroad and continued logging there. He operated a farm and ranch and went into business for himself. He moved to the Shevlin area in the late 1980’s, where he operated a sawmill. He bought land in the Blackduck area and moved there after building his own home. He enjoyed spending winters with his son in Phoeniz. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time on the lake, working with his hands around the home and dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Stoskopf of Blackduck; sons, Michael Stoskopf of Phoenix and Patrick Stoskopf of Amity, Ore.; daughter, Mary (Isaiah) Van Veliet of Amity; step-son, Randy Lamb of Iowa; step-daughters, Tammy Lamb of Sauk Center, Minn. and Tanya Lamb of Tennesee; sisters, Charlotte (Richard) Sperling of Grand Forks, N.D., Theda (Arlen) Booren of Roseau, Minn. and Beth Stoskopf of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Theda Stoskopf; brothers, Michael Stoskopf and Clayton Stoskopf and step-son, Francis Lamb.
