Thomas Wilson Sr., whose name is Wa Bi Gi New, which means White Eagle, 84, of Redby, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
Thomas Wilson Sr., whose name is Wa Bi Gi New, which means White Eagle, 84, of Redby, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. A wake will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Redby Community Center in Redby and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Redby under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
The pallbearers will be Jake Bowstring, Kevin King, Daniel “Fudd” Wilson, Burton “Luke” Wilson, Corey Wilson and Tim Neadeau.
The honorary pallbearers will be Donald “Ducker” Kelly, Willy Strong, Keon King, Jesse Salazar, John Paul Salazar, Eddie John Wilson, Al Wilson Jr., and Roger Head.
He was born June 4, 1925, to Edward and Mary (LaRose) Wilson in Ball Club, Minn. He was a member of the Turtle Clan. He enrolled in the U.S. Army in 1942, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Marie Holinday on Sept. 12, 1948. He began work as a logger in 1952, which he did for many years, until taking a job at the Red Lake Cedar Plant in 1975. He retired when the plant closed in the early 80s. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching old western movies, the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, and the TV Land channel. He enjoyed spending time with his two great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie Wilson of Redby; daughter, Marian King of Redby; grandson, Kevin (Darilyn) King, who he raised; granddaughter, Marla (Jesse) King Salazar, who he raised; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Wilson Jr.; brothers, Allen Wilson Sr. and Louis Wilson and sisters, Delia Hendricks, and Agnes Verant.

Our sympathy goes out to the family, He was such a great guy. We had many great times at Big Winnie Bar, I can still see Tom and Marie dancing, which they loved to do. He will be missed. Dinah and Steve11/20/2009 7:17 AM
