Cheri Jo Long

Cheri Jo Long, age 29, of Salem, Va., formerly of Bemidji, Minn., died unexpectedly in Roanoke, Va. on November 11, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA.

Cheri Jo Long, age 29, of Salem, Va., formerly of Bemidji, Minn., died unexpectedly in Roanoke, Va. on November 11, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 16, 2009 at Evangelical Covenant Church, Bemidji, Minn. with the Rev. Mark Hovestol officiating. A Time to Share will be held Sunday, November 15, 2009, 4-7 PM at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Green Lea Cemetery, Hart Lake Township, Hubbard County, Minn. Arrangements are entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bemidji.

Cheri Jo Long, born March 17, 1980, daughter of David and Linda Long. Cheri was born in Bemidji and raised on a farm in Nebish. She enjoyed the wide open spaces on the farm, going for long walks and playing with her sisters. She was a big help on the farm and moved with her family to Bemidji in 1990, when she was 10 years old. Cheri received a degree in business from Bemidji State University and later went on to complete her MBA at Carlson School of Management. Cheri worked at Best Buy’s corporate headquarters for several years and was recently employed as Finance Manager at the corporate headquarters of Advance Auto Parts in Roanoke, Virginia. Cheri enjoyed traveling and seeing the world; the Incas in Peru, and the castles in Europe. She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. She also loved watching football and hockey, hikes in the mountains of Virginia, playing Scrabble on-line with her mother, working with her dad on family tree research and watching her nieces grow.

Cheri is survived by her parents, David and Linda Long of Bemidji; sisters, Nikki (Joseph) Smith of Bryan, Texas and Crystal (Scott) Mattfield of Bemidji; nieces, Celeste Smith, Isabelle Wells and Emma Mattfield; grandmothers, Lois Myers of Bemidji and Virginia Cross of St. Louis, Mo. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Cheri was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Raymond Madigan and Paul Long.

Cheri touched many lives and is loved by all.

I'm so sorry to hear the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. You were so young to lose a life, she didn't even get a chance to do anything in life, really.God be with you and the family, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this sad times in your life..
