Elwood “Buddy” Eugene Teigland, 79, of Alida, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Cedar Cottage in Bemidji.
Elwood “Buddy” Eugene Teigland, 79, of Alida, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Cedar Cottages in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Alida Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley and one hour prior to the service at the church.
The pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Elsa Stavig, Leif Stavig, Sierra Young, Chelsea Teigland, Ryan Klemmetson, Jerede Raymond, Shane Teigland and Triston Teigland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don and Vernon Nolting, Harvey Bergquist, Richy Teigland, Boogen Teigland, Wayne Patterson, Peter Fredrickson and David Fredrickson.
He was born Feb. 14, 1930, to Manville and Elsie (Erickson) Teigland, in Shevlin. He grew up on the homestead and worked along side his parents and older brother Mayvin. He was baptized and confirmed at the Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Alida. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1948. He married MaryJo Randall, June 11, 1960, in Shevlin. Together they worked the farm and raised four children. He enjoyed farming, logging, hunting, especially deer hunting, ice fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a substitute school bus driver, hauled wood, plowed snow, bladed roads, drove truck and ran a dairy farm for a living. He helped form and start the Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He had a restored shingle machine which he used at the Lake Itasca Pioneer Threshers Show. He was an active member of the Pioneer Threshers.
He is survived by his children, Terri (Jon) Stavig of Cordova, Alaska, Timothy Teigland of Alida, Susan (John) Raymond of Solway and Eugene (Sue) Teigland of Bemidji; eight grandchildren and his brother, Mayvin (Dee)Teigland of Shevlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
