Lawrence F. Pellegrino, 58, of Roscoe, IL, died Oct. 17, 2009 of a heart attack enroute to SwedishAmerican Hospital.
Funeral services were held Oct. 21 in Delehanty Funeral Home in Loves Park, IL with Fr, William Wentink officiating. The Rockford Fire Dept. Honor Guard was present. A graveside memorial service will be at a later date in Blackduck.
He was born Dec. 3, 1950 in Rochelle to Anthony and Winifred Pellegrino. He married Jill Hines Sept. 1, 1979 in Loves Park, Il. He was a 25 year veteran of the Rockford Fire Department and was one of the original paramedics on the force. He retired in 1997 from the RFD.
He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors, especially the times he spent in Minnesota at the Hines farm. He was a member of the Kepotah Gun Club where he was past president, served on the trap range committee and cooked many meals for member functions as he was a great cook.
He was also an avid Civil War history buff, having his own library of about every book published on the war and plans are to donate them to the library.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; a daughter, Angela Pellegrino and her fiance, Jason Alexander; a sister, MaryAnn Pellegrino; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, PeeWee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a cousin, Bernice Pellegrino and father-in-law, Glenn Hines of Hines.
