Beltrami County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Petrie received the Award of Valor for bravery and valor exhibited after being fired upon by a suspect armed with a .22 caliber rifle. The encounter occurred during a traffic stop in Beltrami County. Petrie maintained a calm demeanor throughout the resulting pursuit and affected the capture of the suspect after the suspect had shot himself, said Sheriff Phil Hodapp. From left are Hodapp, Petrie and Chief Deputy Mike Bakke.
