Blackduck Garden Club News

Jackie Barclay, Ann Floura and Glennis Moon (subbing for Donna Hendrickson) hosted the Garden Club’s February meeting at Barclay’s home. Lushbergers, chips and pickles and a luscious coconut, apple, nut cake topped with a whipped cream, cream cheese blend and drizzled with caramel (made in advance by Hendrickson) made up the meal. We do eat well in this club!

As Minnesota legislators settle down for their new session, you have to wonder if they’ll be like their federal counterparts in Congress. The rancor in Washington will probably be imitated in St. Paul as state officials face that stonking (cq) $1 billion-plus shortfall.

The Blackduck girl’s basketball team played a close, exciting game against a solid Red Lake team Jan. 28 defeating solid them by one point, 62-61.

Helen Rose Tompkins, 88 of rural Iowa City, IA, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Boys Basketball Update

The Blackduck boy’s basketball team defeated Laporte by a 70-40 score Jan. 26 in the Blackduck High School gymnasium.
