Harry Cottrell selected as the new Dean at Northwest Technical College

Northwest Technical College announces Harry Cottrell has been selected to be the new dean of learner services at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji. Cottrell will start in the new position on December 7th.
In selecting Cottrell, Vice-President of Student Development and Enrollment Lisa Erwin said, “Mr. Cottrell brings a wealth of experience in enrollment management as well as institutional strategic planning to Student Services at Northwest Technical College. His vision for strengthening student engagement is a great fit with where the College is headed in terms of improving retention. I’m very pleased that Harry will be joining the Student Services team!”
Cottrell has served as supervisor for Center for Lifelong Learning, Lake Superior College, and Duluth, MN. Previously, director of admissions and enrollment management at Lake Superior College; director of grants, planning, and institutional research, Sauk Valley Community College, Dixon, IL; director of individualized certificate program, Centralia, WA; registrar, Nicolet Area Technical College, Rhinelander, WI; assistant to the president: research, planning and enrollment Inver Hills Community College, Inver Grove Heights, MN. Cottrell has an associate’s degree from College of the Redwoods, Eureka, CA; bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Humboldt State University, Arcata, CA.
Cottrell has thirty years of administrative experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Over twenty-five years spent in community and technical colleges working in academic affairs, workforce development, continuing education, student services, research, marketing, enrollment management, strategic planning, grant writing, and as a college faculty member.
