Northwoods Politics: Klobuchar named to impeachment panel
Most Americans remember the tortuous route Congress took in the late 1990s to bring about the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. The U.S. House impeached the president, but the charges didn’t stand in a U.S. Senate trial. In the history of the United States, only 15 impeachment trials have been held, including 11 judges. Now a new one is gearing up, and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, DFL-Minn., will play a key role.Bemidji Pioneer, 03/18/2010

Notes from the Northwoods: Terrific Teens
The stereotype of teens walking around at night is that they're either up to no good, or that they're doing nothing. Well, along with the camaraderie of friendship they experience, sometimes they're coming across opportunities to help other people, whether it's holding a door for someone, giving a hand to someone trying to lift something heavy, or finding my keys lying in the snow and delivering them to my door.

Trail Mix: A visit from Flat Stanley
Today, we had a special guest as we walked: Flat Stanley. Stanley came from Red Lake Falls, where my granddaughter, Jada, lives with her parents, Megan and Ryan. Stanley is flat because he was squished by a bulletin board, but is somehow fine. Students make their own Flat Stanleys and can send them to people all over the state ... and the country ... and even the world.

Trail Mix: "Well, that was less than refreshing"
You can't necessarily tell this from a still photo, but bundled-up Bethany is walking backward across the Irvine Avenue bridge today. She got halfway across before grumbling over the biting wind and turning around. "I feel like there are icicles stabbing me in the cheeks," she said.
