Wilton Wash, 70, of Bagley, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Clearwater County Memorial Hospital in Bagley.

Wilton Wash, 70, of Bagley, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Clearwater County Memorial Hospital in Bagley.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bemidji, with the Rev. Ken Mayberry officiating. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Stephen Cemetery, Stephen, Minn. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements. Military honors are by Bagley American Legion Post 16.

He was born Oct. 17, 1939 to Roosevelt and Evadena Wash, in Bon Mills, Ky. He attended Highland Academy in Portland, Tenn. He entered the U.S. Army in 1957 and retired in 1978. During his career in the army as a Medical Logistics NCO, he served tours in Germany, France, Lebanon, Vietnam, Korea, Alaska and several state in the continental U.S. He married Gloria C. Dammann on May 29, 1965, in Stephen, Minn. When he retired, they moved to a farm southeast of Bagley and he graduated from agricultural school. He raised cattle until he was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1983. He later worked for the Bagley School District as a bus driver until he retired in 2001. He was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bemidji, and held various church offices including Elder and Head Deacon at the time of his death. He volunteered at the SDA Clothing Depot and was a member of the Bemidji Retired Military Club. He was an active member of the Bagley American Legion Honor Guard. He enjoyed working with his horses and after his retirement, he enjoyed traveling to different states to see family and friends.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Caralee (Jason) Anderson, of Rush City, Minn., Holly (Rick) Willard, of LaVergne, Tenn.; siblings, Barbara Willard, of Deland, Fla., Jean (Gerald) Hile, of Ciscero, Ind., Wanda Castle, of Elizabethtown, Ky., Ronald (Sally) Wash, of Steinhatcher, Fla., and Janice (Donald) Lands, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; two granddaughters; a brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
