Emily T. Sund, 83, of Geneseo, Ill., formerly of Pinewod, and originally from Pensacola, Fla., died Monday, March 15, 2010, at her home.
Emily T. Sund, 83, of Geneseo, Ill., formerly of Pinewod, and originally from Pensacola, Fla., died Monday, March 15, 2010, at her home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo, with the Rev. Michael Pakula officiating. Burial will be in the Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born Jan. 22, 1927, to Jay Henry and Emalear Claire (Apostle) Towner in Los Ange-les, Calif. She married Conrad J. Sund in 1954 in Pensacola. He died in 1976. She had been employed at Western Union Telegraph, St. Louis, Mo., as a cashier/bookkeeper for 34 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo, the Altar and Rosary Circle 6 of the church, Women of the Moose, GALS (Business & Profes-sional Women Organization), a lifetime member of American Business Women’s Association and American Bridge Contact League. She was also a mem-ber of Daughters of the Ameri-can Revolution, Christian Women’s Club, Friends and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards, was an avid bridge player, and taught bridge at the Geneseo Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her daugh-ters, Catherine “Cat” White of Cambridge, Illinois; Sarah A. (George) Valletta-Garner of Pensacola; Amy B. Goldswor-thy of Fort Walton Beach, Fla; Carmen Janet McDonald of Salem, Mo.; son, Thomas H. (Dayle) Goldsworthy of Bran-son, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and sister, Violet Beaver.
