Joan Hoffman

Joan Mary Hoffman, 79, formerly of Debs, died March 6, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society — Blackduck.

Memorial services were held March 10 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck with the Rev. Ray Klug officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in the Roosevelt Township Cemetery in Debs.

Active pallbearers were Garry LaRoche, Christopher LaRoche, Pat Cahill, Roy Ewen, Robert Williams and Tony Baker. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Brown, John Baracani, Michael Hoffman, Ashly Brown, Ronee Baracani and Gena Rees.

She was born Feb. 11, 1931 in St. Paul to Eddie and Ruvella (Leslin) Magnan. She was united in marriage to Melvin “Shorty” Hoffman Oct. 28, 1950 in Goodridge. She retired in 1991 from John’s Super Valu Food Stores after many years of service. After her retirement, she enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, card playing and long walks in the woods.

She is survived by two daughters, Vickie (Garry) LaRoche of Orion, IL and Kristi Hoffman of Blackduck; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Mitch; her great-grandson, Maximillian four brothers, Jerry, Gene, LeRoy and George; a sister, Juanita Cahill and her special friend, John Dunn.
