Roger was born December 14, 1964, in Bemidji, Minnesota to Shirley and Louis Homister. Roger moved with his family to Preston, Kansas, after his father passed away. Roger attended and graduated from the Wellington High School in Wellington, Kansas. After high school graduation, Roger continued to reside in the Wellington area. Roger was employed at Future’s Unlimited, Inc., Wal-Mart, and also at McDonald’s unloading trucks.

Roger then moved from Kansas to Park Rapids, Minnesota in May of 2002. He lived at the River Heights Apartments and then most recently at the Woodland Court Apartments. Roger began attending the Hubbard County DAC and working at its Recycling Center in January of 2003. He assisted on the recycling trucks with pick-up and delivery of recyclable materials, baled cardboard, worked on the recycling sorting line, and also assisted with general clean up of the facility. Roger briefly worked at Lamb Weston RDO in Park Rapids, Minnesota; however, he most enjoyed working at the Recycling Center and returned to working there. Roger was a very hard and dedicated worker and a valued employee. Even when Roger was in the hospital recovering from his heart ailment, he wanted to get back to work as soon as he could at Recycling and see all of his friends there.

Roger also participated in the Semi-Independent Living Skills Program with Heartland Homes, Inc. He enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart with his Heartland Homes staff and always remarked how helpful his staff was and that he was very thankful to work with them. Roger also enjoyed the great outdoors, spending his time camping and fishing. He also had a love for clocks and collected a great variety of them. Roger also looked forward to the annual trip to the State Fair with Heartland Homes each year. He was a big fan of Dr. Pepper and Subway sandwiches.

Roger had many friends in Park Rapids, who he lived with at the Woodland Court Apartments and who he worked with at the Hubbard County D.A.C. and Recycling Center. He will be dearly missed by all of his friends and everyone who worked with him.

She is survived by his mother, Shirley Homister of Brainerd and four sisters, Esther Homister of Blackduck, Bonnie Smith of Florida, Nancy Homister-Brandt and June Schambron both of Kansas.
