Ruth Evelyn Dreher, 93, of Northome, died Feb. 4, 2010 at the Northome Healthcare Center in Northome.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 6 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Northome with the Rev. Thomas Galarmeault officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Mizpah Cemetery, Mizpah under the direction of Cease Funeral Home of Blackduck.

Active pallbearers were Phil Dreher, Doug Dreher, Brian Dreher, Jim Dreher, Andy Dreher, Kaleb Fraley, Adam Dreher and Erik Dreher.

She was born June 11, 1916 in Roseau County to Almer and Cordelia (Lee) Skrutvold. She attended Roseau High School and graduated in 1933. She attended Bemidji State Teacher’s College graduating from there in 1935. She lived in Wanaska and Roseau and Grand Rapids.

She taught elementary school in small schools in northern Minnesota until she got a job in Northome. She married Clent Dreher March 8, 1941 and they raised children on their farm east of Mizpah. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards, reading, dancing, entertaining family and friends and gardening.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Northome, a member of the Mizpah Farmer’s Club, the Mizpah Community Club and the PTA in Mizpah. She loved being with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Linda) Dreher of Mizpah, Ken (Deborah) Dreher, of Hastings, Jack (Jennifer) Dreher of Mizpah, Pat (Kristine) Dreher, of Mizpah and Julie (Scott) Sorensen of Cohasset; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and siblings, Mertrice (Nick) D’More of Long Beach, CA, Joan Welte of Newport Beach, CA, Ann Skrutvold of Roseau, Curtis (Gloria) Skrutvold of Roseau, Helen Thompson of Roseau and Mae (Jake) Twito of Albert Lea.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Almer and Cordelia Skrutvold; her husband, Clent Dreher in 1992; an infant daughter, Janet Dreher; an infant grandson, Michael Lee Scott Dreher and siblings, Clarice Buzzard, Clarence (Bud) Skrutvold and Carol Fredrickson.
