Florence Anne Johannsen, 83, of Lake George, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Florence Anne Johannsen, 83, of Lake George, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with the Rev. Don Kirchner officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Lake George Cemetery. Following the funeral, the church family will provide a luncheon for all.
The pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jason (Londa) Johannsen, Josh (Michele) Johannsen, Julie (Jeff Muller) Johannsen, John Johannsen and Jenna Johannsen.
The honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Darin, William, Wyatt, Gavin, Alexa, Lydia and Carson Johannsen and Tammy Muller.
She was born Aug. 19, 1926, to Archie and Rose (Peters) Stecker in Becida. She attended public school in the Becida area. At the age of 15, she moved with her family to the Bemidji area. On May 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Walter Johannsen at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. The couple worked in farming and logging until 1957, when Walter embarked on a new career working in the iron ore mines in Northeastern Minnesota. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, being outdoors, hunting and fishing with her husband, son and grandchildren and quilting. Florence was a long time faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. She was actively involved with the Lake George Sr. Citizens Club.
She is survived by her son, Marvail (Melinda) Johannsen of Lake George; five grandchildren; her sister, Marjorie Stahl of Brainerd; brothers, LeRoy Stecker of Florida, Ray (Janice) Stecker of Gilbert, Minn. and Albert (Rosie) Stecker of Mt. Iron, Minn. and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1992 and her sisters, Dorothy, Ruth and Pearl.
