A Chorale Tradition: Bemidji Chorale prepares for 39th annual Christmas concert Dec. 3
BEMIDJI — The Bemidji Chorale kicked off its last rehearsal at BSU on Monday night practicing Christmas traditionals such as “Noel” and “Alleluia.”
The chorale will usher in its 39th Christmas season with two concerts on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Evangelical Free Church, 115 Carr Lake Road SW. The first will be held at 3 p.m., and the second at 7 p.m.
Rehearsal for the chorale will move to the church for their final two rehearsals before the concerts.
Conducted by Patricia Mason, programming will be varied with traditional music of the season and new composers and arrangers, according to a release.
The concert will include traditional Christmas favorites, but also Spanish and Basque carols, spirituals, and new interpretations of sacred text, such as Tesfa Wondemagegnehu’s “Love Is” (2016) from First Corinthians 13:4-7.
“As always, the joy, fun, and exuberance of the season is reflected by the singers and the literature chosen,” a press release said.
There is no admission fee, but a free-will offering will be accepted.
