Bemidji singer to host CD release party

BEMDIJI — From winning contests to singing on stages, and now producing her first original album Courtney Gunsalus, 22 of Bemidji, has spent the last year immersed in music.

Known to her Facebook fans as Courtney Guns*, she has competed in several local karaoke competitions and landing spots on surrounding country music festival stages.

Gunsalus opened for Restless Heart at the Kick’n Up Kountry in Karlstad, Minn., Thomas Rhett and Lee Brice at the Moondance Country Festival in Walker, as well as before Eric Church at Detroit Lake’s WE Fest.

Now, she is releasing her first original album. ‘Never Let the Dust Settle’ will be released Saturday to the public. The album includes multiple songs that landed her as the Minnesota representative for the Texaco Country Showdown, a national country music competition.

A 2009 Bemidji High School graduate, Gunsalus started her musical interests in show choir groups, including Vocalmotive.

Gunsalus’ CD release party and fundraiser will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bemidji Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave. SE. In addition to Courtney, Saphire Brown and Highway 71 Band will perform. The event will also include raffle drawings and a silent auction. All ages are welcome. Cost is $5.
