STILLWATER, Minn. -- Katie Kelzenberg, a senior at Stillwater Area High School, has a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson pillow, Dwayne Johnson T-shirts and his action figure. She even dressed as The Rock for Halloween.

In a video posted Sunday on Twitter, Katie dressed like The Rock in a black T-shirt, jeans and fanny pack and asked Johnson a question: “Will you ROCK it with me at prom?”

The wrestler turned actor responded Friday morning, April 20, in an announcement broadcast throughout the high school.

“I’m going to start this Friday morning announcement off with a little bit of fun and a little bit of excitement,” Johnson said. “You’re probably thinking ‘What? What is The Rock doing on our intercom system?’ Well, I’m sending a message to a very special young lady, and her name is Miss Katie Kelzenberg.”

Johnson said Katie, 18, of Afton, was “cool” and “awesome” for inviting him to the prom, which will be May 5 at The Myth in Maplewood, but that he couldn’t attend because he is shooting a movie in Hawaii.

Instead, he said, he rented out the Oakdale Cinema movie theater for Katie and friends, to watch his latest movie “Rampage” on Saturday afternoon — complete with “all the popcorn and candy and soda” they could eat and drink.
