Pioneer Previews: Third Thursday in Park Rapids to feature Bemidji singer
Third Thursday in Park Rapids will feature "Two Sopranos and a Piano" with vocalists Julie Kaiser and Gail Haller and pianist Cheryl Steinborn in a program of Medieval hymns and rarely performed Christmas music from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 6:30 p.m. at Bella Café, 116 3rd St. W.
Jill and Deane Johnson will read from their new book, "Little Minnesota: 100 Towns Around 100," and discuss their journey to Minnesota's tiniest towns from 5:30 to 6 and 6:30 to 7 p.m. at Beagle Books, 112 3rd Street W.
Fran Gack will entertain in her easy listening style from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 7 p.m. at Blank Canvas Gallery & Education Center, 311 South Main Ave.
Ben Marotte will vocalize and play his 12-string guitar from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 7 p.m. at The Good Life Cafe, 220 South Main Ave.
The public is invited to attend the events and encouraged to make a free-will donation to the artists.
A program that captures the creative process of various artists living in our region, Common Ground takes the viewer inside the cultural events of the North Country. This week's episode will showcase potter Al Fritz of Laporte and his collection of pottery which incorporates natural elements into the finished piece. All episodes are shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, 11:30 a.m. Saturday, 6 p.m. Sunday and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Timberline with John Essig, Kari Munson, Don Leet and Dave Sand will be performing from 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday at the Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave.
The Two Tap Trio with their signature Irish music: Reels, jigs, slip jigs, ballads and Irish humor will be performing from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Brigid's Cross Irish Pub and Restaurant, 317 Beltrami Ave. The kitchen serves until 9 p.m.
Happy Holiday ART Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bemidji Health and Wellness Center, 403 America Ave. Artists involved are Jeff Burger with pottery, soda fired cups and casseroles; the Fortuna Puppet Theater with Margaret Burger finger puppets; Terry Leinbach with candles, knitted items and beaded jewelry; Nora Peterson with paintings and Mary Therese Peterson with painted silk scarves, collages and wall hangings.
The McKeown Family Band's second annual Christmas Party Hop will welcome to the public from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 23 at the Old Lincoln School Gym, Mt. Zion Church, Fourth St. and Lincoln Avenue. Admission is a plate of goodies to share.
