Ojibwe singer and songwriter to perform

BEMIDJI — Annie Humphrey, Leech Lake Ojibwe singer and songwriter, will perform 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. tonight at the Cabin Café Coffeehouse, 214 3rd St. NW.

The concert is free but a freewill offering will be accepted to benefit the Bemidji Area and Minnesota Ojibwe Lacrosse programs.

Wild rice mushroom soup and refreshments will be available for purchase.

BEMIDJI — Local author Roy C. Booth will be signing copies of his book, “Mortuary of Madness” from 4 to 6 p.m. at Kat’s Book Nook, 750 Paul Bunyan Dr. NW in Bemidji.

Bazaar for Remer Arts and Crafts set

REMER — Remer Arts and Crafts will host their annual Holiday Bazaar 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Remer High School, 316 Main St. E.

Arts, crafts and home-based businesses will be featured. Lunch will cost $5. Sloppy Joe, chips, bars and beverages will be served.

Abe Lincoln program set for Fosston

FOSSTON — “Abe Lincoln at Gettysburg” will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday  at the New Journey Church, 505 9th St. NW in Fosston.

 The program is free, open to the public and appropriate for all ages. Coffee will be served at 9 a.m. The program is part of Northern Exposure to Lifelong Learning.

75th anniversary year continues

BEMIDJI — The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra will continue its 75th anniversary year with “Homecoming Celebrations” 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Bemidji High School Auditorium.

BSO welcomes home former orchestra member and special guest Eric Haugen, who will be featured on Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto.

Tickets will be available at the door, at Lueken’s Village Foods North and South or at Prices are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, $10 for college students and students in kindergarten through grade 12 are admitted free.

Funding workshop for artists announced

BEMIDJI — “Funding Your Work” with Anne Metcalfe will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Beltrami Electric Cooperative Community Room, 4111 Technology Dr. NW.

The workshop will discuss the value of multiple income streams including crowd-funding and more. The program is free and open to the public.

Chakov receives honorable mention

BRAINERD — Becky Chakov, of Bemidji, received an honorable mention for her poetry work in the 2013 Brainerd Writers Alliance Writing Contest.
