Red Lake Youth Concert set

RED LAKE-- The Red Lake Youth Concert is planned 6 to 9 p.m. Friday located by the Red Lake Trading Post.

Music will feature Pete and Sophie Elizabeth Thiel of Firestarters and rappers Emmanuel and Bonnie Sargent of Fearless Freedom.

Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available. There will also be a drawing for four Minnesota Twins tickets.

Final summer concert for band

BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Area Community Band will hold their final concert of the summer 7 p.m. Sunday on the south lawn of Bangsberg Hall, at Bemidji State.

The band will be under the direction of Mike Kerrigan, of Walker. Kerrigan is a 1974 graduate of Bemidji State College, where he studied trombone. He later taught instrumental music at the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley schools for 34 years.

This last concert will feature selections from "Music Man," the Holsinger classic, "Prelude and Rondo," "Sounds of Simon and Garfunkel," a Dixieland number, and of course a popular John Philip Sousa march.

Concert series continues

BEMIDJI-- Headwaters School of Music & Arts in collaboration with Lake Bemidji State Park announce upcoming performers Scott and Anna Froemming along with their family 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Bemidji State Park amphitheater.

The group will present a bluegrass/gospel concert. All members of the family join in vocals and come from the St. Cloud area.

Admission to the concert is free, but a valid park pass is needed to enter the park. Day passes are $5.

-"Judy Why Can't I" returns

WALKER-- Minnesota Folklore Theater will bring back the production of "Judy Why Can't I" at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 and 3 p.m. Aug. 11 and 18 at the Walker Bay Theater, 100 Highland Ave. in Walker.

The play offers a glimpse into the life of Judy Garland up to her final days when she died at the age of 47.

Tickets are available at Pilot Independent and American National Bank in Walker.
