Yvonne Peterson, age 83, passed away Tuesday, May 7th, at St. Therese Assisted Living in Brooklyn Park.
Yvonne (Vonnie) was born November 18th, 1929 at Wadena, Minnesota and was the daughter of the late Carl and Susan Hasbargen. She grew up in Menahga, Minnesota and after graduating from high school, attended Bemidji State College and earned her teaching degree.
Vonnie married Ken Peterson, August 30th, 1948. They both taught school at Federal Dam until Ken was recalled to active duty with the National Guard, January 1951. After Kens tour, Vonnie and family lived in Bemidji until they moved to St. Louis Park in 1955. During the twenty years in St. Louis Park, Vonnie was active as a Cub Scout Leader, a youth baseball sports booster, and substitute teacher. Vonnie moved back to Bemidji in the spring of 1976 to enjoy lakeside retirement with her husband, Ken. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and Bridge. Her passion was cooking for friends and family. She also enjoyed golf, fishing and curling at the Bemidji Curling Club. Vonnie was a member of First Lutheran Church of Bemidji. Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and sister, Avis White. Survived by sons, Eric (Renae) and Karl (Sheri); daughters Sandy (Bill) Hawkins and Roxy Bartley; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Roger Hasbargen.
Visitation will be Friday, May 9th at 1:00 p.m. and Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m.
