Youth Wrestling Update
The Blackduck youth wrestlers traveld to Bemidji March 24 to compete in the NYWA Regional Individual and team tournament. It was a very exciting day of wrestling!
Bryce Frenzel (second), Christian Pater (second), Carter Pater (first), Trenten Juelson (second), Landon Gross (third) and Ian Frenzel (first) all qualified to compete at the NYWA State Tournament this next weekend in Rochester.
Dalton Juelson (fifth), Samuel Juelson (fourth) and Michael Juelson (fifth) also qualified to wrestle the state invite in Rochester.
Also wrestling were Trevor Janssen, Jastyn and Xayvion Rodgers, Lucas Reiplinger, Eli Sharbano, Hunter Wilcowsk and Michael Staples.
After wrestling their individual matches the team wrestled some hard fought matches losing to Pine River by one point and beating Bemidji then losing to Pine River again to take fourth place in overall team. Coaches were Brian Pater and Mark Binkley.
On Friday night, seventh and eighth graders Larry Favela (third) and Mason Frenzel (second) also wrestled the NYWA Region tournament and both qualified to wrestle the state tournament in Rochester this coming weekend.
The Blackduck youth lone wrestler that traveled to Bagley March 23 was Landon Gross taking second place.
