YOUTH HOCKEY: Bemidji goes 0-2 on first day of Paul Bunyan International Hockey Tournament

BEMIDJI – The Bemidji Pee Wee AA hockey team lost both of its pool play games Friday at the Paul Bunyan International Hockey Tournament.

Bemidji, playing in the North Division, took on Marquette, Mich., and the Grand Forks Seawolves in their first two games of the tournament. Bemidji lost to Marquette 6-2 before falling to the Seawolves 4-3.

Bemidji will take on Andover at 8 a.m. today in their final pool play game at Nymore Gardens.

In the first initial game Friday, played at the Sanford Center, Bemidji kept it close with Marquette, trailing just 3-2 after two periods before Marquette scored three times in the third period for the win.

In game two against Grand Forks, played at Nymore Gardens, Bemidji scored three times but couldn’t get the victory.

Teams will return to the ice today for a final pool play game before the final brackets are determined. Each team will play one game in their bracket today before a final game Sunday.

All championship games will be played at the Sanford Center, while all the consolation title games will be played at Bemidji Community Arena.
