Teams consist of one adult and two young anglers (8 to 17 years of age) and the entry fee is $100 per boat. Tournament officials report that plenty of youngsters are willing to participate and would be happy to join an adult who needs a kid to fill his or her boat.

The tournament is live-release and the minimum size limit is 12 inches. Each boat may weight six bass and penalties will be assessed for any dead fish.

Anglers and their boats will meet at the Big Turtle public access at 6:30 a.m. The weigh-in is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

For an entry form or more information contact Darwin Sumner at Box 310, Red Lake, Minn. 56671.

The DNR said the bear clawed and bit a 72-year-old Minnesota woman after she and her dog startled the bear and its three yearlings at her home Monday near McGregor, Minn. The officer later shot the bear when it charged him. The woman was recovering at home Wednesday. Officials left the yearlings alone to fend for themselves.(AP Photo/Department of Natural Resources)
