Young runners do well at Cold Spring meet
With the huge Roy Griak cross country race looming on Saturday Bemidji coach Ryan Aylesworth rested his top runners at Thursday's meet hosted by Cold Spring.
The Lumberjacks did not enter in Thursday's girls varsity competition while the top 10 boys also took the day off.
BHS did run seven athletes in the boys varsity race and Bill Freyholtz set the pace with a personal best time of 18:34. That effort was rewarded with 30th place in the individual standings.
Moorhead took the team title with 19 points. Bemidji finished seventh in the nine-team field with 202 points.
Also posting personal bests Thursday were Brett Isensee who was 34th in 18:40 and Devin Barrett who was 37th in 18:44.
Other BHS results saw Lucas Gast place 50th (19:28), Evan White 51st (19:28), Tony Sagedahl 52nd (19:31) and Jake Letson 61st (20:38.).
