WRESTLING: Bemidji rolls past Roseau, 57-15

ROSEAU – The Bemidji wrestling team bounced back from loss to Badger/Greenbush-Middle River last week in a big way.

The Lumberjacks traveled to Roseau and left with a dominating 57-15 thrashing of the Rams Tuesday night.

The Lumberjacks, now 8-8 in dual meets, won three matches by pinfall. At 113, Tyler O’Beirne pinned James Rauser at 1:15; at 145, Gannon Strain pinned Blake Skogstad at 4:43 and Drew Peterson took down Tyler Pederson in 1:26 at 170.

Also big winners Tuesday were Tyler Maas, who topped Brett Dale 11-4 at 106; Craig Maas at 138, who topped Jayfen Sikorski 11-3; and Robert Truer, who defeated Casey McCourt by technical fall, 15-0, at 152.

In all, seven Lumberjacks defeated Roseau opponents, while four more won by forfeit.

The Lumberjacks return to the mat Thursday when they’ll host Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena and Nashwauk in a triangular meet at 6 p.m.
