World Curling Championships: Shuster falls to Denmark
Bemidji Minnesota P.O. Box 455 56619

John Shuster and Team USA went from hot to cold in a matter of hours Tuesday and fell to Denmark 9-6 at the World Men's Curling Championships at Moncton, New Brunswick.

The Ulrik Schmidt rink snapped a two game win string for the U.S.

Despite the loss, Shuster is still tied for third at 4-3 as Scotland also fell to the Czech Republic 5-4. Germany moved into a three-way tie for third by beating Finland 8-4.

Things were shaky from the start. Two key misses gave the Danes two in the second and they stole one in the third for a 3-1 lead.

The Americans got that one back in the fifth but yielded two more in the sixth.

The pair then traded two spots through the next three ends with Denmark taking a 7-6 lead into the tenth. It held the hammer and added two more to cement the win.

Shuster went up against unbeaten Canada Wednesday night. The Canadians have faced only one 10-end match all week.
