The Woodcarvers Festival will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Blackduck Wayside Rest, 244 Frontage Road.

At 9:15 a.m. a special dedication to Jim Schram Sr., known as the "Father of Blackduck Woodcarving," will be held and a 12-by-20 bronze plaque will be unveiled in his honor.

About 50 carvers and wood vendors will set their booths in the park. The festival offers one of the best varieties of wood carvings in the state, from caricatures to bark carvers. This year's raffle items are a blue heron and blue jay carved by the late Schram and donated by his family. A free kids carving class will also be held under the center tent from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Arts & Craft Show will be held at the north end of Wayside Park on Summit Avenue. Demonstrations will be held throughout the day by artists Maureen O'Brien and Mary Morton; carvers, Gen Jansen, Jim Germain and Mike White; and wood burning by Karen Spotts.

The outer circle of the park will house several service groups offering taco salad, hamburgers and brats, fresh squeezed lemonade, root beer floats and snow cones.
