WOMEN'S HOCKEY: Ohio State routs BSU 10-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tenth-ranked Ohio State’s offense proved to be too much to handle for Bemidji State in its series finale Saturday afternoon, as the Buckeyes powered their way to a 10-1 sweep-clinching win.

The weekend sweep was the first for OSU against Bemidji State since Oct. 24-25, 2008, and its 10 goals were the most ever recorded between the teams in 56 all-time meetings dating back to 1999.

For the second consecutive night, sophomore Natasha Kostenko notched the Beavers’ only goal. She now has three goals on the year and is the only BSU player with more than one. Emily Erickson assisted on the tally for her third point in as many games.

The Beavers (2-5-1, 1-4-1 WCHA) were outshot 32-30 in the contest and were held scoreless on four power-play chances. Ohio State (7-3-0, 5-3-0 WCHA) was a perfect four-for-four with the extra skater.

Sophomore goaltender Abby Ryplanski started and gave up four goals in the game while senior Jess Havel relieved her midway through the game and gave up six. Havel made 16 saves on the night.

BSU’s next game will be an exhibition contest against the Minnesota Whitecaps on Thursday in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in Eveleth.
