The teams scored a goal apiece in the first period, with Lindenwood’s Katie Erickson striking first on a power play at the 8 minute, 48 second, mark of the opening frame.

Lauren Miller answered for BSU a little more than a minute later to tie the score at 1-1.

The teams skated to a scoreless tie in the middle frame until Bemidji State scored two quick strikes a player down to break the game open.

With both BSU’s Miller and Tess Dusik in the penalty box along with Lindenwood’s Jocelyn Slattery, Moher scored her first goal of the game with just two teammates on the ice.

She got a feed from Alex Citrowske and beat Lindenwood goaltender Nicole Hensley  at 6:18 to give BSU its first lead of the game.

Less than 40 seconds later Kaitlyn Tougas added to the lead with her second goal of the season to make it 3-1.

Moher put the game out of reach at the 8:26 mark of the final frame with her second goal of the game and third goal of the season; Citrowske got the assist on that tally as well.

Bemidji State outshot the Lions 39-20 and won the faceoff battle 38-23.

Freshman Brittni Mowat once again started in net for the Beavers and made 19 saves to get the victory.

Hensley made 35 saves for Lindenwood in the loss.

BSU went 0-for-5 on the power play but made up for it with the two shorthanded goals; the Lions were 1-for-7 with the man-advantage.

BSU, now 3-2-1, begins Western Collegiate Hockey Association play next weekend with a home date against the No. 1-ranked Minnesota Gophers.

Lindenwood falls to 0-7-3.
