BEMIDJI – Bemidji State couldn’t handle Augustana’s hot shooting.

The Vikings, the No. 13 team in the country, shot 10-for-12 from 3-point range in the first half and finished the game with a 14-for-22 clip from downtown to rout the Beavers 92-44 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Friday night at the BSU Gymnasium.

The Beavers (6-6, 2-6 NSIC) took a brief lead in the opening minutes of a game with a 3 from Morgan Lee and a jumper from Katie Warmack.

That was the last time BSU would sniff a lead.

A pair of foul shots by Alex Feeney just two minutes into the game gave Augustana (10-2, 6-2) a 6-5 lead and from there it was all Vikings.

Augustana hit 10 three-point baskets in the first half, a season-high for three-point field goals made in a single half.

The Beavers kept it a 10-point game for much of the first half but the Vikings pulled away with a 29-19 run in the final 10 minutes of the half to take a 54-34 lead into the break.

Shaunteva Ashley was 4-for-4 from downtown for the Vikings in the first half. Ashley led the Vikings with a career-high 23 points in the game and finished the night a perfect 5-for-5 from long range.

In the second half, the Vikings cranked up the defensive pressure and limited the Beavers to just 10 points.

Bemidji State was held scoreless for 7:33 before a layup at the seven-minute mark in the second half stopped the drought.

The Beavers missed their last 14 shots and committed five turnovers in the final seven minutes of the game.

Kate Warmack poured in 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Beavers, while Lee was the only other BSU player in double figures with 12 points.

Aside from Ashley, the Vikings had four other players score in double figures. As a team Augustana shot 33-for-66 (50 percent) from the field, compared to BSU’s 17-for-69 (24.6 percent).

The Beavers return to the court this afternoon where they’ll face another ranked team, weather permitting.

No. 22 Wayne State comes to Bemidji after edging Minnesota Crookston 59-57 Friday night in Crookston.
