WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: BSU no match for ranked opponent, loses 87-41 at Wayne State

WAYNE, NEB. -- No. 11 Wayne State proved why it is ranked with a 87-41 rout over the BSU women Saturday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

Wayne State never trailed in the wire-to-wire finish and led by over 50 points late in the second half.

The Wildcats raced ahead to an early 17-4 lead in the first seven minutes of the game and never looked back.

With 5:48 remaining in the first half, Wayne State had built a commanding 31-6 lead.

Wayne State owned a 40-13 advantage at the half.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 30 points, at 49-19 in the first five minutes of the second half.

Senior Kate Warmack, who led the Beavers offense with 18 points, scored 16 of the team's first 19 points.

BSU's offense was much more efficient in the second half, as it scored 28 points in the second half, but Wayne State did not let up. The Wildcats lead got as large as 53 points with less than three minutes left.

Jaylan Spencer led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting for Wayne State.

Aimee Pelzer added seven points off the bench for the Beavers.

BSU (7-7, 3-7 NSIC) returns home next weekend as it will host MSU Moorhead and Northern State. Wayne State improves to 16-1 overall and 9-1 in the conference.
