Beaver Morgan Lee led all scorers with 17 points, connecting on six field goals, including three from 3-point distance.

Jessie Althoff added 11 points and six rebounds while Ellie Wessling posted a season-high 11 rebounds with eight points and two assists.

BSU (6-4; 2-4 NSIC, 2-4 NSIC North) shot just 32.1 percent from the field, which included a 29.6 percent clip in the second half. NSU (8-2; 4-2 NSIC, 4-2 NSIC North) shot 36.6 percent from the field.

BSU turned the ball over 16 times, which led to 18 Wolves points. BSU battled for 11 offensive rebounds and led the second-chance points category 18-5. The score changed hands 10 times and was knotted up on four occasions.

Nearly five minutes into the contest BSU trailed 10-9, which quickly went to a 14-9 deficit after a Beaver scoring drought that lasted almost four minutes. Althoff ended the skid with a jumper and started a BSU 9-0 run that included four points from Lee. The streak handed the road team an 18-14 lead with 9:32 left in the first half.

The lead expanded to 28-19 with 4:40 to play in the half after Emily Kaus’s lay-up. Northern battled back, however, and trimmed its deficit to 29-27 at the break.

The home team stayed close in the second stanza and midway through the period BSU led 45-40.

The Beavers struggled offensively for the next seven minutes, however, scoring only three points. That drought enabled the Wolves to take a 49-48 lead with 2:24 to play.

A pair of Wessling free throws regained a 50-49 advantage for the Beavers but BSU would not score again and Northern was able to steal the victory.

The Beavers will hope for better results today when they visit Moorhead for a 4 p.m. game.
