Woman goes into labor after two-vehicle crash north of Bemidji

BEMIDJI - A 28-year-old Bemidji woman suffered non-life threatening injuries early Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 71 north of Bemidji.

Carime Doughty, who was nine months pregnant, went into labor after the crash and was taken to Bemidji Sanford Medical Center.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, she attempted to cross Highway 71 when the westbound Toyota Corolla she was driving struck by a southbound Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Tammy Morey of Bemidji.

Morey, 51, and a passenger, 64-year-old Jeffrey Shadwell of Bemidji, did not report injuries in the crash. The State Patrol and Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident at 12:51 p.m.
