Woman, accused of leaving children in hot car, allowed visitation
BEMIDJI - The Bagley woman accused of leaving her children in a hot car while trying on swimsuits at the Target here will likely be allowed to have supervised visits with her children.
Bianca Jean Hazelrigg, 21, of Bagley, appeared in Beltrami County District Court Monday morning before Judge Paul Benshoof.
Hazelrigg faces a gross misdemeanor charge of endangerment of a child by putting them in a position that could cause them harm or death.
Hazelrigg has posted bail and is no longer in Beltrami County Jail. One of the conditions of her release is that she has no contact with the four children who were allegedly left inside her car on June 9 in 88-degree temperatures while she shopped for swimsuits inside Target for 29 minutes.
In court on Monday, Hazelrigg asked, through her attorney Diana Sweeney, that the court lift the no contact order so she could visit her children.
Hazelrigg has suffered "an emotional hardship by being separated from her children," Sweeney told the court.
The children, according to Hazelrigg, are now with a family member.
The judge ordered Hazelrigg will be allowed supervised visitation with the children.
"I don't want her to have custody of the kids yet, but I don't have a problem with her having contact," he said.
